On August 15, 2019 I disembarked from a train in Berlin. I had spent 2 months in Paris, Bordeaux and Biarritz playing gigs, writing songs, reading books and figuring out my next chapter in life. Prior to arriving in Europe again from NYC in mid-June, I had been living in NYC for the 5th time, spent the better part of two years living in Northern and Southern California, as well as a 9 month period of living near Bastille on rue St. Sabin. I had toured the states for the last time with Natalie Merchant in the summer of 2017 and had lived in Beacon, NY and Great Barrington, MA in the winter and spring of 2019. I needed a change. Again. France was the place I knew I wanted to start over at again, so I did. When the opportunity for a gig in Berlin on August 28th presented itself, I knew that it was significant.

Upon arrival in Berlin, I immediately began writing and recording with the great Robert Philipp (Kaiserbase) at his studio in Zehlendorf called Kaiserbase Studios. It was magic.

After years of considering a release of the album, it's finally here. Berlin Sky.

What happened on the night of my gig on August 28th in 2019 is that I met and fell in love with Cecilie Beck Gordon and continued writing songs with the light and love of my life I had searched so long for. Life is incredible! 7 years later and we are just as in love with each other as ever as we raise our daughter and son.

It's some very poignant, honest, funky music about meeting and falling in love with Cecilie as well as a song about letting go of the past ("Distance and Solitude").

I am also writing my memoirs at the moment and this will be included as an entire Chapter. Berlin Sky.
